Welcome to the Velvet Rebellion

Hello, I am V.R.
The purpose of this blog is simply a voice for the people of Harford to raise concerns, issues, awareness and even events within our city of eighteen square miles. Moreover, I dedicate this blog to the commitment of covering and exposing from the ills that is plaguing our historic city to the more positive yet neglected stories. The goal is to raise the awareness of both we, the residents, law enforcement, firefighters and our elected officials and overall get to better know our city. Only by working rigorously as a cohort may we rise again to our former glory. I, however expect for all of us to accomplish this in a non-violent yet organized manner hence "Velvet Rebellion" and rebel against the rise in crime, unemployment, fiscal responsibility and reckless and inefficient city governing. We, the Velvet Rebellion, are as futurist trends expert George Celente describes "Political atheist" we do not endorse nor pick sides in the political spectrum but...we do monitor and WILL call out on any malfeasance of anykind. It is our civic duty to take part in our communities playing positive roles of repairing our image socially, mentally and physically and above all morally. - V.R.

Hartford Mayoral Deal Cheats Voters Of Choice

"But contested elections are already too rare in Hartford. A competitive race between highly qualified candidates is something many community activists and ordinary citizens value. Instead, once again, the decisions have been made for us by a small group of power brokers and party leaders. All to true, for some time we have noticed this pattern over and over, time after time again. Yet in a city of 120,000 plus people only about 7,000 registered voters went to the polls in this prior election. Of course the perpetuating of voter apathy and mistrust is NO EXCUSE to practice your civic duty. To vote as a front line voter equals the right to be heard and supporting freedom regardless of the outcome. Take the time to read this article I've provided above, study and learn from it. - V.R.
